A spool includes a spindle ( 8 a) perpendicularly extending from a major surface ( 4 a) of a base plate ( 4 ). A bobbin ( 16 a) is fitted over the spindle ( 8 a). The bobbin ( 16 a) includes a short cylindrical member ( 18 a) and a flange ( 20 a) contacting the major surface ( 4 a) of the base plate ( 4 ). A coil of fishing line ( 22 a) is fitted over the bobbin ( 16 a). A short cylindrical member ( 10 a) of a flange member is fitted into the spindle ( 8 a). A flange ( 12 a) is formed along the peripheral edge of the cylindrical member ( 10 a).
