<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass tube cutting apparatus which can reduce cutting loss during re-cutting by improving the quality of a glass tube cut surface and does not cause disruption of later steps by ensuring the cutting of a continuous glass tube. <P>SOLUTION: A glass tube cutting apparatus 10 intermittently brings a cutting blade 5 provided on an arm 4 which continuously rotates in the horizontal direction into contact with the upper part of the peripheral surface of a continuous glass tube G1 which runs continuously to form scratches on the continuous glass tube G1 and gives thermal shock to cut the continuous glass tube G1 to a predetermined length.
