A composition comprises a polysulphonamide selected from the group comprising poly (hexamethylene benzenep-disulphonamide), poly (hexamethylene benzenem-disulphonamide), poly (ethylene benzenem-disulphonamide), poly (decamethylene benzenep-disulphonamide) and mixtures and copolymers thereof dissolved in a solvent consisting essentially of dimethyl sulphoxide and/or tetramethylene sulphoxide. The solvents may be diluted with inert volatile liquids, e.g. carbon disulphide and acetone. In the examples, poly (hexamethylene benzenepdisulphonamide) is dissolved in dimethyl sulphoxide or a mixture thereof with carbon disulphide and the solutions are extruded into acetone, ethanol or water to form filaments. |
