PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digitization apparatus having a simple configuration constituted only by a digital circuit, which executes digitization of signal levels or time intervals at high speed and with high precision. SOLUTION: The digitization apparatus includes, as a main scale, a pulse delay circuit 11, a latch-and-encoder unit 12, a rotation counter 15 and a latch circuit 16, and, as a vernier scale, an inverse timing extracting circuit 13 and an interpolation circuit 14. In the main scale, a time interval between two consecutive measurement signals PB is digitized by a resolution equal to a delay time Td for one stage of a delay unit DU. In the vernier scale (interpolation circuit 14), a time difference from inverse timing Tr of the delay unit DU to measuring timing is digitized by a resolution M times that of the main scale. The interpolation circuit 14 is constituted only by the digital circuit using two delay lines formed by serial connection of a plurality of delay units and is constituted so that the resolution of digitization in the interpolation circuit 14 can be determined by the delay time difference, not by the delay time in the delay unit.
