摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation angle detector having a high degree of freedom of design. SOLUTION: This rotation angle detector detecting a rotation angle of a detection object rotating body includes: a main rotating body attached to the detection object rotating body, and rotating along with the detection object rotating body; an auxiliary rotating body rotating at a predetermined rotating ratio with respect to the main rotating body; a main rotation detection mechanism for outputting a signal periodically changing in response to the rotation of the main rotating body; an auxiliary rotation detection mechanism for outputting a signal periodically changing in response to the rotation of the auxiliary rotating body; a signal processing means for converting cycles of the signals output from the main rotation detection mechanism and the auxiliary rotation detection mechanism to calculate the rotation angles of the main rotating body and the auxiliary rotating body in the converted cycles by using the signals; and a calculation processing means for calculating the rotation angle of the detection object rotating body based on the calculated rotation angle of the main rotating body or the auxiliary rotating body, a relative rotation angle between the main rotating body and the auxiliary rotating body, and the converted cycles.
