The invention relates to a strip traction measuring device comprising at least one strip traction measuring roller and receiving means for at least one strip traction measuring roller, in addition to a method for determining the strip traction force during rolling of metals, by means of a strip traction measuring roller. The aim of the invention is to provide a strip traction measuring device and a method for determining the strip traction force, which enable the strip traction force to be determined in a precise manner and with simple and economical means. This is achieved by virtue of the fact the strip traction measuring device comprises at least one ultrasonic transmitting-receiving arrangement and evaluation means, ultrasonic waves being injected into the areas of the receiving means for the strip traction roller that are voltage-charged by the strip traction force and can be received again and at least the propagation time of the ultrasonic waves can be determined by the evaluation means.
