The latch (1) has a radial recess (4) accommodating a closing clamp (3), which is positioned in a door-post of a vehicle e.g. motor vehicle, body, in a closing position. A damping layer (5) is made of a flexible material and is effectively connected with a ratchet, so that the latch and a vehicle door are secured in the closing position. An area (12) of the radial recess is lined by a protective layer (13) made of plastic and elastic material, where material properties of the protective layer deviate in relation to material properties of the damping layer at a surface in form of a shroud.
