The arrangement has electronic lamp ballasts (1) heating constantly the lamp electrode and component (11) switched by a facing lamp electrode with zener-diode characteristic in both current directions. The zener voltage lies between the maximum value of the voltage at the current passing through the lamp electrode (E2) and the maximum value of the voltage at the interrupted lamp electrode. An independent claim is also included for an adapter for retrofitting of lights during comparison of electrical rated output for a longer period.
