PDC-LACTIC ACID COPOLYESTER AND MOLDED ARTICLE THEREOF

The object is to provide a polyester which comprises a biomass-derived raw material in a repeat unit structure and has satisfactory levels of dynamic strength, ease of molding processing into a fiber or film and biodegradability. Disclosed is a PDC-L-lactic acid copolyester represented by the general formula: -[R<SUP>1</SUP>-PDC]<SUB>x</SUB>-[OCH(CH<SUB>3</SUB>)CO]<SUB>1-x</SUB>- (I) wherein PDC represents a dicarboxylic acid residue represented by the formyula (II) shown below; R<SUP>1</SUP> represents a group selected from -O(CH<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>n</SUB>O-, -O(CH<SUB>2</SUB>CH<SUB>2</SUB>O)<SUB>m</SUB>- and -O[CH(CH<SUB>3</SUB>)CH<SUB>2</SUB>O]<SUB>m</SUB>-; n represents an integer ranging from 3 to 6; m represents an integer ranging from 1 to 4; x satisfies the requirement shown by the formula: 0.005 = x = 0.2 when n or m satisfies the following requirement: n = 4 or m = 2, or x satisfies the requirement shown by the formula: 0.005 = x = 0.4 when n or m does not satisfy the above-mentioned requirement. Also disclosed is a molded article comprising the PDC-L-lactic acid copolyester.
