PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reed switch of normally-closed contacts capable of detecting a position of micro displacement by a simple structure, and a reed switch mechanism using it. SOLUTION: In this reed switch with a pair of reeds 3 made of magnetic materials enclosed in an insulated container by opposing their contact parts 4 to each other and the contact parts 4 released or brought into contact with each other according to a magnetic field applied to the reeds 3, when an applied magnetic field is absent, the contact parts 4 are brought into contact with each other in a condition that they are mechanically pressed to each other by elastic force of the reeds 3, and the contact parts 4 are released by magnetizing a pair of contact parts 4 to the same pole and inducing magnetic repulsion. By using the reed switch, the reed switch mechanism detects that the central N pole of a magnet 9 approaches the contact parts 4 and releases the contact parts 4 by arranging a square or round bar-like magnet 9 polarized to make its both ends serve as an S pole and its center serve as an N pole in a manner that the axial direction of the reed switch and the polarized direction are in parallel and moving it in the axial direction.
