PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase exercise effectiveness in a balance training apparatus which imposes an exercise load simulating horse riding on a subject by rocking a seat which the subject takes. SOLUTION: A rocking mechanism which can rock the seat 2 up/down and forward/backward is made to be rotatable around a rotation axis extending forward and backward to rock in the right and left direction by an eccentric rod. Then, the ratio of the period of rocking forward/backward in the rocking mechanism to the period of rocking to the right and left by the eccentric rod is made to be 1:2, and the standard point of rocking forward/backward and the standard point of rocking to the right/left are made to coincide with each other to draw a transverse 8-shaped track. Alternatively, timing of a 3/4 period of rocking forward/backward is set to the standard point of rocking in the right/left direction to draw a V-shaped track. Moreover, the front of the rotation axis is lowered. Thus, complicated movement where the seat 2 is twisted in a direction of rolling of the seat 2 (the direction of V1) as the seat 2 rolls in the right/left direction, so that the exercise effectiveness is increased.
