A system and a method for paying/charging a traffic card are provided to enable a user to pay a traffic fare through the traffic card having remainder smaller than the traffic fare, and offset a difference between the paid traffic fare and the remainder when the traffic card is charged. A traffic card(100) offsets an amount corresponding to the traffic fare in payment by charging a predetermined amount. A card terminal records the shortage amount to a memory(110) of the traffic card and normally recognizes transaction once if the remainder stored in the traffic card is smaller than the traffic card. A charger charges the amount offsetting the shortage amount to the traffic card when the traffic card is charged. |
