A method and an apparatus for displaying the storage status of data stored in a TV are provided to display the storage progress of data continuously irrespective of the maximum storage capacity by providing a visual information OSD according to a time shift function in a rotary type so that a user can grasp the progress of storage easily. A method for displaying the storage status of data comprises the following steps of: storing temporarily inputted data in a storage device(S100); producing the present use condition of the storage device and providing a time shift visual information OSD(On Screen Display) in a rotary type if the output of the time shift visual information OSD is requested according to a time shift function(S110~S130); and reproducing corresponding data according as the indicating bar of the time shift visual information OSD moves and displaying the storage progress of data currently stored on the time shift visual information OSD(S140~S160).
