A surface light source device, and a backlight unit and an LCD having the same are provided to facilitate the manufacturing of the surface light source device, by constituting the surface light source device in a simple structure where a light source and an optical pipe are combined. A backlight unit comprises one or more light sources(120a), at least one optical pipe(140) adjacent to the light sources, and a plurality of optical sheets(180a,180b,180c) positioned on the optical pipe. An inside surface of the optical pipe is structured in a plurality of prism shapes. The light sources are light emitting diodes, and adjacent to a lateral surface of the optical pipe. An LCD comprises an LCD panel, and the backlight unit for supplying light to the LCD panel. |
