Health and performance status determination of a biological subject using level, abundance or functional activity of a gene expression product in sample cells

A method of determining the status of a subject other than a human is disclosed. The subject data is obtained from cells in a biological sample of the subject. The subject data is from a single test and includes respective values for each of a number of parameters. The individual parameter values are representative of the level, abundance or functional activity of gene expression product in the cells and are indicative of the current biological status of the subject. The subject data is compared to predetermined data which includes values for at least some of the parameters and an indication of the condition. The status of the subject, and in particular, the presence and/or absence of the one or more conditions, can then be determined in accordance with the results of the comparison.
