A power transformer for a portable welding apparatus is provided to maximize an air contact area by forming a wrinkle shape on a ferrite core as a single body, and forming an air passing hole. A power transformer for a portable welding apparatus includes a plurality of ferrite cores(20,21), membrane cooling plates(30,31), thin film dielectric insulating bodies(40 to 46), plane windings(50 to 53), and a pair of insulating bobbins(60,61). The ferrite core has an E-shape cross section to be coupled with the bottom and the top of a body(10). The membrane cooling plate is contacted to the inner surface of the ferrite core. The thin film dielectric insulating body is contacted to the membrane cooling plate, and has the shape of a corrugated cardboard. The plane winding is laminated between the thin film dielectric insulating bodies. The pair of insulating bobbins are coupled to receive the thin film dielectric insulating bodies and the plane winding, and are inserted to center parts(20a,21a) of the ferrite cores.
