摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flip-chip mounting semiconductor light-emitting device which can emit blue or ultraviolet light with high power and high efficiency, and has a high luminance uniformity at a light extracting surface. <P>SOLUTION: The compound semiconductor light-emitting device includes on a transparent substrate 21: a thin-film crystal layer; a second-conductive side electrode 27; and a first-conductive side electrode 28, wherein the light extracting direction is on the substrate side. The electrodes 28 and 27 are not spatially superposed with each other and are formed on the opposite side to that of the light extracting direction. The sidewall surface of the thin-film crystal layer is retreated from the edge of the substrate 21. An insulating layer covers the inside from the position apart from the edge of the substrate, covers all the side surface of the thin-film crystal layer, is in contact with part of the light extracting direction side of the first-conductive side electrode, and covers part of the opposite side to that of the light extracting direction of the second-conductive side electrode.
