A tractor endless track final drive assembly comprises a non-rotatable sprocket shaft 11 extending between the drive housing 10 and track frame, a sprocket rotatable with respect to the shaft, a reduction gearing including a quill concentric to the shaft and supporting the sprocket, a first tapered roller bearing between the quill and the shaft, an outer housing element surrounding a part of the quill and shaft and carried by the track frame, a second tapered roller bearing between the quill and outer housing, and a third - tapered roller bearing between the outer housing and the shaft., The drive sprocket 14 meshes with the track links 15. The enginedrives, through a steering clutch 17, a shaft 20 having a pinion 18 meshing with a pinion 19 formed with a quill 24 haying a splined connection 25 with a quill shaft 26 which supports a sun gear 28 meshing with planets 30 which also mesh with a ring gear 31 secured against rotation in the housing cover. The planet carrier 34 has a quill shaft 35 which supports the sprocket 14 through a splined connection with its hub and a nut 36. The gear 19 is supported by roller bearings 38 and 39. The planet carrier has an inner roller bearing 40 and an outer tapered roller bearing 41 supported in an outer housing member 42 disposed in the outer track frame and secured by a clamping member. A tapered roller bearing 45 is disposed between the quill shaft 35 and the shaft 11. A tapered roller bearing 46 supports, upon the housing member 42, the shaft which permits oscillation of the track frame and entire track assembly about the sprocket shaft 11. The clearance on the bearings 41, 45 and 46 is adjusted by a nut 48 held against rotation by a lock plate 49 and protected by a cover plate 50. Specification 747,296 is referred to. |
