PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable composition giving a resin composed of a thioepoxy-based compound and having decreased variations of refractive index, hue, optical distortion, etc., and provide a method for the production of the composition. SOLUTION: The polymerizable composition contains a compound having one or more structures expressed by formula (1) (R<SB>1</SB>is a 1-10C hydrocarbon group; and R<SB>2</SB>, R<SB>3</SB>and R<SB>4</SB>are each a 1-10C hydrocarbon group or hydrogen atom) provided that the total amount of the thioepoxy compound A having at least one dithioepoxy structure and at least one thioepoxy structure and the thioepoxy compound B having at least one epoxy structure and at least one structure expressed by thioepoxy is≤4 mass% based on the total mass of the polymerizable composition.
