PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting device which can well cut without the end part of a medium to be recorded buckling, and without causing cutting failure when a cutter plunges the medium to be recorded even if it is the medium to be recorded which cannot be cut due to environment. SOLUTION: The cutting device has a cutting means for cutting the medium to be recorded, a cutting speed control means for controlling the cutting speed with the cutting means, and a means for obtaining the kind of the medium to be recorded, and the cutting speed control means is a means for changing the cutting speed according to the kind of the medium to be recorded.
