A fuel injection control system for an internal combustion engine (i) having at least one fuel injection valve (16) for injecting fuel to a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine is disclosed. According to the fuel injection control system, a fuel injection amount is calculated according to a rotational speed of the engine and a load on the engine, a main injection is performed according to the fuel injection amount, and a pilot injection before the main injection according to the fuel injection amount. Further, at least one of a pilot injection-fuel amount and a pilot injection timing is controlled according to a change amount of the fuel injection amount.
