A chucking apparatus is provided to form a uniform coating film on the surface of a cylinder body by controlling internal pressure by making the inner air of the cylinder body flow through an internal pressure operating pipe line. A chucking apparatus for holding a cylinder body(K) has a chuck device(2) installed at the outer peripheral part of a rod(1) to hold the cylinder body at the inner side. The chuck device is composed of a body unit(3) disposed at the lower end of the rod, inserted into the cylinder body, and provided with an annular recessed groove formed at the outer peripheral part, and an annular elastic seal member(4) stored in the recessed groove while coming into contact with the recessed groove and expanded in a diametral direction by pressurizing fluid flowing into the recessed groove to come into contact with the inside of the cylinder body.
