PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter device capable of reducing high frequency noise, and a discharge lamp lighting device and a luminaire using it. SOLUTION: This filter device F connected between the output end of a commercial ac power supply AC and the input end of a lighting circuit 9 to attenuate noise transmitted from the lighting circuit 9 is equipped with four line filters 1 inserted in a pair of power supply lines 40, 41 connecting the commercial ac power supply AC to the lighting circuit 9, and a first capacitor series circuit 2 connected to the output end of the commercial ac power supply and formed by connecting two capacitors 2a, 2b in series.
