PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential device without the necessity for forming a bearing surface for a pinion gear in the inner wall of a gear chamber into a spherical shape, capable of reducing the manufacturing and working cost of the device constituting parts compared with a conventional one, and capable of simplifying an assembling procedure compared with a conventional one. SOLUTION: The differential case is a conjunction of a left case half 1 and a right case half 2 which are formed by halving the case at the supporting position of a pinion shaft 5. By the conjunction of both the case halves, the recessed parts for shaft supporting 8A, 8B are formed at their conjunction boundary. Also, by combining a halved annular pedestal part forming part of the left case half 15 and a halved annular pedestal part forming part of the right case half 25, annular pedestal parts for the pinion gear (15, 25) surrounding the recessed parts for shaft supporting are formed. At the annular pedestal parts (15, 25), the plane-shape bearing surface for seating the plane-shape back of the pinion gear 4 directly or indirectly is formed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
