A handheld electronic device equipped with detachable head sets is provided to simplify the structure of a body, a head set, and a charger and to reduce the danger in trouble and loss by equipping detachable head sets. A portable electronic appliance includes a body(10) and a pair of head sets(20). The body(10) performs a wireless transmission function. The head sets(20) have the wireless transmission function. At least one of the head sets(20) makes wireless communication to the body(20), and the head sets(20) are mounted on the body. One of the head sets makes wireless communication with the other. The body(10) provides a charging function to the head sets(20). When one of the head sets(20) is mounted on the body(10), the other is in an available state.
