<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for a battery, suitable for a lithium-ion battery or the like with improvement in cycling characteristics, such as an initial discharge capacity and a capacity maintenance ratio, taking into consideration the problems incurred in case an anode active material layer is formed as a collector is made to travel, and to provide its manufacturing method with high productivity, as well as, a secondary battery that uses the electrode. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode for the battery is manufactured that contains an active material with a large energy capacity, such as silicon and tin, in an anode active material layer. Here, an anode collector 12 is arranged at a travelling mechanism consisting of a circular roll or the like, and a region located in an evaporation region A is made adhered to the circular roll 4 by a suctioning means or the like. Next, after tension on the anode collector 12 is put off, a film is formed on this region. After that, the anode collector 12 is made to travel for a given distance by the travelling mechanism, and the next active material layer forming region is moved to the evaporation region A.
