PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road surface monitoring system capable of implementing the remote sensing of the road surface condition with a high degree of precision. SOLUTION: The road surface monitoring system deploys a laser transmitting device 10 radiating laser beam of a number of different wavelengths, a sensor 20 receiving the reflected laser beam from the road surface, and a sensing device 30 driving to control them while performing the signal-processing/data-analysis on the side of a road and transmits analytical results to road bulletin boards 50 and an administration office through an information transmitting device 40. In addition, the sensor 20 consisting of an objective lens 21, relay lenses 22 and 24, a liquid crystal tuned filter (LCTF) 23, and a CCD camera 25 is composed to receive the reflected laser beam while using the continuous spectroscopy setting selective wavelength arbitrarily together with the multi-polarizations rotating polarization plane arbitrarily around an optical axis.
