PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially prominent method for manufacturing aβ-alanine compound which can be produced under mild conditions compared to the conventional manufacturing method, a method for manufacturing a piperidone compound using theβ-alanine compound thus obtained as a raw material, and a method for manufacturing an aminopiperidine compound with the use of an industrially safe reducing agent which does not generate hydrogen cyanide. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing aβ-alanine compound comprises reacting an alkylamine compound with an acrylic ester in the presence of a carboxylic acid. The method for manufacturing a piperidone compound comprises subjecting theβ-alanine compound thus obtained to cyclized condensation in the presence of a base, and thereafter subjecting the cyclized condensation product to hydrolysis decarboxylation reaction under acidic conditions. The method for manufacturing an aminopiperidine compound comprises subjecting the piperidone compound to reduction amination reaction with ammonia and hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst.
