Vehicle airflow driven turbine arrangement

An energy harnessing arrangement comprises an air turbine situated proximate to the path of moving vehicles so that the turbine is rotated by airflow caused by movement said vehicles. A plurality of air turbines may be located within a road tunnel, vehicles moving in opposite directions at different heights within the tunnel causing the turbines to rotate in the same direction. The turbines may drive electrical generators which supply electricity to the national grid. In an alternative embodiment the turbine may comprise a spiral rotor situated within a crash barrier at the side of a road, the turbine driving a generator which charges a battery and can also supply electricity to the national grid. The battery may be used to power lights mounted on the crash barrier.
