A displacement transducer of a magnetostriction type and a position finding method using the same are provided to be applied to an industrial cutting tool, a hydraulic system, a dam floodgate, and etc. A displacement transducer of a magnetostriction type includes a wave generator(230), a position magnet(204), a pickup coil(200), a standardization circuit(206), a position decision circuit(208), a distance calculation unit(210), and a position display unit(212). The wave generator generates a wave to measure a position, and applies a start pulse. The position magnet creates a magnetic field in the circumferential direction of a wave guide(202) using the wave generated from the wave generator, and induces a composite magnetic field inside a protection pipe surrounding the wave guide. The composite magnetic field induced in the position magnet is transmitted to the wave guide as an ultrasonic wave(4), and the pickup coil unit extracts the ultrasonic wave returned after transmission to convert the ultrasonic wave to an electric signal. The standardization circuit standardizes the signal converted in the pickup coil unit and amplified in an amplifier(220). The position decision circuit generates a final stop pulse from the signal standardized in the standardization circuit. The distance calculation unit calculates a distance by the time delay between the stop pulse and the start pulse. The position display unit displays the distance information calculated in the distance calculation unit. |
