A video display device, a driver for a video display device, and a video display method are provided to enhance the number of gray scales of images by reducing an address period. A display unit(7) includes plural pixels disposed in matrix. A comparison circuit(11) compares display data between current and previous frames or between current and previous lines. A conversion circuit(1) converts the display data into data which is used for addressing on the pixels during an address period of one or plural subfields within a frame or a line. A driving circuit(4) generates an address discharge and a display discharge based on the converted data. The display displays a gray scale corresponding to the number of illuminations of the pixels or average illumination numbers in successive two frames or lines.
