Disclosed is a cladding system comprising a plurality of cladding members 1 each having a front surface 43 and a rear surface 2 and having top, bottom and side edges, and at least one base element 10 placed below said cladding members, each base element comprised a base block 10 having (a) moisture receiving means 22-23 capable when in use of receiving any moisture from behind at least one cladding member; and (b) at least one opening or outlet, herein named a discharge means; the discharge means 25-26 being capable in use of discharging moisture from the cladding system. The cladding member comprises an insulating material, wherein its front surface has a plurality of substantially parallel channels formed on it, wherein the channels are provided to increase impact resistance of the front face when used in conjunction with an exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS) reinforced plaster-finishing system. Flashings and fixing devices used in the above cladding system are also described.
