<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus speedily obtaining a constant image density without consuming toner. <P>SOLUTION: The ratio of new toner or ratio of old toner existing in a developing apparatus is detected by an image area ratio of a formed image in the image forming apparatus and developing potential is compensated by a compensating means compensating the developing potential based on this result. Thus, even in an image formation varing toner exchanged amount in a developing apparatus, the constant density can be speedily obtained. Moreover, since the image area ratio can be detected without consuming the toner, no toner needs to be consumed when compensating the developing potential. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
