<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manufacturing cost of a conventional contact image sensor by omitting the use of a GRIN image forming optical element, to reduce the size of a sensor body, and to solve a problem in an assembly tolerance. <P>SOLUTION: In the contact image sensor provided with a circuit board 2, a light emitting module 3 and an image sensor module 4 and using no image forming optical element, the light emitting module 3 is electrically connected to the circuit board 2, and the image sensor module 4 is electrically connected to the circuit board 2 and arranged on the side of the light emitting module 3. A light beam L1 is emitted from the light emitting module 3 to a document D to generate reflected light L2, and then the image sensor module 3 approaching the document D directly receives the reflected light L2 from the document D and directly detects an image of the document D. Since the use of an image forming optical element is omitted, the whole manufacturing cost is suppressed as compared with a conventional contact image sensor, the volume of the sensor body is reduced and the problem in the assembly tolerance is also solved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
