An A/V appliance and a method for providing multimedia contents using the same are provided to allow a user to view multimedia contents as well as DTV broadcasting through the large screen of a DTV without additional equipment. An audio/video(A/V) appliance includes a digital television(DTV) module(300) and a multimedia processing module(400). The DTV module digitizes a page of providing multimedia of a multimedia content provision site, information about the page, and multimedia data of the page which are transmitted through Internet and then displays the page, the information, and the multimedia data on a predetermined region of a display device. The multimedia processing module(400) is connected to the Internet through an interface device. The multimedia processing module(400) accesses the multimedia content providing site to store multimedia data provided from the multimedia content providing site or transmit the multimedia data to the DTV module.
