<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of detecting the prediction of entering a paper sheet into a fixing device and starting the control to extend feed forward time, thereby lowering the temperature in a standby state and saving energy. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a printing start prediction detection means utilizing the characteristics of the operation of the image forming apparatus. When the prediction is detected at time ty (before printing start instruction time ts), the feed forward control is started. Consequently, time used for the feed forward can be extended by the time corresponding to an amount (temperature Ts-Ty) obtained by subtracting temperature Ty at the time ty from temperature Ts at the time ts. Thus, the temperature lowerin after paper sheet passing start time tp can be prevented, and also the temperature lowering caused when a transfer paper sheet starts to enter into the fixing device can be prevented, so that a setup temperature in the standby state can be lowered, thereby saving the energy during the standby state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
