PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery in which safety can be improved only by a structural change without another additive or an additional process in an assembling process. SOLUTION: This is the secondary battery which is manufactured by sealing a battery case after an electrode assembly in which a positive electrode and a negative electrode are laminated in a state that a separator is interposed between them is built in the battery case. The battery case has a structure that the lower part case having a recessed state housing part capable of housing the electrode assembly and the upper part case to seal the housing part as a cap of the lower part case are mutually coupled at one side and become one body. The electrode assembly is protruded to one side face direction a in which the electrode direction is neighboring to a coupling part of the case and mounted on the housing part. Out of the outer peripheral face of the separator, the outer peripheral face of the separator corresponding to the other side direction b and the opposite face direction c of the coupling part is fixed together to a sealing part of the battery case as a surplus part.
