PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that maintains tracking sensitivity of exposure control of a photographed image and prevents luminance flickering without making the circuit complicated or increasing the circuit cost. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 1 includes: an imaging element 3 including a plurality of pixels with a plurality of conversion characteristics to convert incident light into an electric signal; an evaluation luminance calculation section 16 for calculating an evaluation luminance value exposed for exposure processing; a luminance difference calculation section 18 for comparing the evaluation luminance value with a prescribed target luminance value to calculate a luminance difference between the both; a setting frequency storage section 20 for storing a revision frequency of the exposure condition corresponding to the luminance difference; a luminance difference area discrimination section 19 for selecting and setting a revision frequency of the exposure condition from the setting frequency storage section 20 responds to luminance difference difference calculated in luminance difference calculation 18; and a system control section 12 for revising the exposure condition in an exposure processing control section 21 according to the frequency set by the luminance difference area discrimination section 19.
