PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair which requires no improvement of a base structure part even if the kind of the chair differs, and is improved so as to secure a backward inclination function. SOLUTION: The chair includes elastic means 40. Each resilient means 40 is constituted of a case part 42 having an upper part 46, a lower part 48 and side walls 44, a rocking member 58 which is connected to the case part 42 via connection pins 56 supported on the side walls 44 of the case part 42 and has a backrest support part 60 and a reaction part 62, and at least one resilient material 78 which has one end resisting to the upper part 46 of the case part 42 and another end resisting to the reaction part 62 of the rocking member 58 and energizes the reaction part 62 so as to approach the lower part 48 of the case part 42. The case part 42 of each resilient means 40 is constituted as a separable member independent of a base structure part 12 and is inserted into a base part 30 of a seat structure part 22.
