The brake has a rubbing unit (6) pressed against a friction surface of a brake caliper (5), which is to be braked, by an actuator (2) e.g. electric motor. A lining wear adjusting device (3) has a gear rod (8) that is operated on the rubbing unit, and a locking unit (1) is movable relative to the gear rod, where the locking unit blocks a backward motion of the gear rod. The gear rod and the locking unit are prestressed in two different forward directions.
