PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device which realizes thinning of the device while suppressing a reduction in recording capacity, or prolongment of start time of a spindle motor. SOLUTION: The device includes: a magnetic recording medium 1; a magnetic head assembly equipped with a magnetic head for reading data in the magnetic recording medium 1; and a motor coil assembly having a plurality of motor coils arranged on a circumference around the rotational center of a spindle motor rotor of a stator base surrounding the outer periphery of the spindle motor rotor and having a notching-shape at least a part of the predetermined moving locus part of the magnetic head assembly so that intervals in a circumferential direction are uniform, and configured to rotary-drive the spindle motor rotor.
