PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new oxetane compound imparting a polymer excellent in thick film forming property, curing property, heat resistance, etc., and to provide a method for producing the same and to provide an optical waveguide using the same. SOLUTION: The bisoxetane compound is produced by reacting phenols with cesium salt to form a cesium phenolate and then reacting with sulfonic acid ester to obtain the bisoxetane compound represented by general formula (1).
