PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain turning in a space-saving manner and to facilitate free adjustment of a turning angle. SOLUTION: This medium conveying direction changing device 60 provided in a medium conveying path for conveying a card-like medium, to change a medium conveying direction has a turning body comprising inside a medium conveying part 671 receiving the medium from the medium conveying path and delivering the medium; a supporting shaft 69 supporting the turning body turnably from the outside; a turning motor 65 which is a first drive source for turning the turning body; a turning member 64 receiving a driving force from the turning motor 65 to turn the turning body; a transmission member (a conveying drive pulley 68) provided in a position where the axis of the supporting shaft 69 coincides with the turning center of the turning body, and transmitting a driving force for conveying the medium 2 to the medium conveying part 671; and a second drive source provided independently of the turning body to drive the transmission member (the conveying drive pulley 68).
