<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that displays separate images on screens provided in the front and back faces. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device displays images visible through both of the front and back faces and includes: a liquid crystal layer; a common transparent electrode that is disposed on one surface of the liquid crystal layer and transmits incident light and drives the liquid crystal layer; a plurality of reflective electrodes that are disposed on the other surface and that reflect the light entering the liquid crystal layer from the common transparent electrode side and drive the liquid crystal layer present between the reflective electrode and the common transparent electrode; and a plurality of transparent electrodes that are alternately disposed with the plurality of reflective electrodes on the other surface and that transmit incident light and drive the liquid crystal layer present between the transparent electrode and the common transparent electrode, wherein the reflective electrode is insulated from the transparent electrode and each independently drives the liquid crystal layer present between itself and the common transparent electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
