An image signal receiver and a method for displaying a progress bar are provided to display a first type of progress bar differently, which shows program information stored in a storing medium up to a current time, in a block unit according to types, channel or genre of programs so that a user can more easily discriminate the stored programs and accordingly more quickly search programs which will be reproduced. A receiver receives a broadcasting signal or an external input signal. An image processor processes signals to store or display the broadcasting signal or the external input signal. A storage(126) stores the broadcasting signal, the external input signal or the signal processed by the image processor. A controller(102) stores signals in the storage or reads the stored signals. An OSD(On Screen Display) generator(138) generates OSD for visually displaying information about the signals stored in the storage. A progress bar displays at least one or more recorded things stored in the storage. An expansion progress bar is for information display and control for a recorded thing selected on the progress bar. |
