The present invention relates to a filtration device (1 ) for purification of water which among other things contains a water-chamber (2) equipped with floating filter media (4) and an air-chamber (3) separated from the water-chamber by means of a funnel shaped partition wall (7) and whereby the water- and air-chamber are connected via a connecting element (16) which extends from the air-chamber to the water-chamber, that is fitted out to bring air from the air-chamber to the water-chamber regularly. The invention further relates to a periodic and full automatic cleaning of the filter media (4) in the filter device (1). The present invention further relates to the use of the filter device for the purification of water.
