PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Cr-plated sliding member having both of abrasion resistance and a lower coefficient of friction, by improving the crystal orientation of the Cr-plated sliding member. SOLUTION: The sliding member has a plated Cr film thereon containing (222) oriented crystals 1 of which the (222) face specified by X-ray diffraction analysis directs at the surface side, in an amount of 60 to 80% by an abundance ratio; and having a thereby thinned Cr oxide film 3 on the surface.
