PACKET SCHEDULING METHOD IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, BASE STATION, AND MOBILE STATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a downlink packet scheduling method in a mobile communication system between a base station and a mobile station wherein battery saving or measurement of different frequency of the mobile station can be carried out while taking account of the traffic characteristics of service.

SOLUTION: The method for scheduling the downlink packet of a shared channel or a common channel between a base station and a mobile station comprises a step where the base station judges whether a packet to be transmitted to the base station is waiting or not other than a current transmission packet, a step for setting a period (t) for temporarily stopping packet transmission to the mobile station after the current transmission packet if a decision is made that no packet to be transmitted is waiting, a step for transmitting information indicative of the stop period (t) by a channel for transmitting the schedule information of the downlink packet, and a step for stopping packet transmission to the mobile station during the stop period (t) after the current transmission packet.
