<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric actuator for a fuel injector of internal combustion engine less susceptible to kinds of faults related to a high local electric field and a concentrated stress. <P>SOLUTION: The piezoelectric actuator is provided with the stack of a piezoelectric layer 64 formed of a piezoelectric material, a plurality of internal electrodes 66, 68 disposed through the stack, an insulating means 72 that at least locally cover at least one surface of the stack for forming a piezoelectric/insulation interface 74, and two side electrodes 60a, 62a or more that are connected to two groups of internal electrodes 66, 68 or more. At least one bridging means 76a extends the insulating means 72, the bridging means 76a includes a conductive material for connecting the side electrode with the internal electrode, and at least one first surface formed by an interface between the conductive material and the insulating means is mutually continuous eventually with at least one second surface formed by an internal boundary in the piezoelectric layer in the vicinity of a piezoelectric/insulation interface 74. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
