<p>The method involves providing a backlight (3) with a backlight-control device (1), which adjusts light density detected by a backlight-sensor (2) to a reference value. Operating hours of the backlight are determined in points of time, where control variables adjusted at points of time based on the predetermined reference value are determined. An actual residual service life of the backlight is determined from a maximum control variable of the control variables and the operating hours and is displayed on a liquid crystal display (LCD)-display (5).</p> |
